Samuel Orr, master of the Chunkiang, sworn, stated that the deceased was em ployed on board the Chinktang as a fireman. The Chief Officer called witness this morn ing, and told him that a man was lying dead in the hold. Witness examined the body and found life to be extinct.

Chung Atai, a seaman belonging to the steamer, said that he found the body this morning at o o'clock; no one saw him fall. The distance from the main deck to the bottom of the hold is 24 feet 10 inches,

Captain Orr, re-examined said he thought the deceased must have slipped over, as they had been washing ant the hold, and the hatches were off.

This enquiry was also adjourned till a 'olock to-morrow afternoon, at the Magia tracy.
