INQUEST.

An inquest was opened at the Government Civil Hospital this afternoon, on the body of Samrudeen, before James Russell, Esq., Coroner, and the following Jurors:Merry P. A. da Costa, J. Boston, and F. C. Dittmer. The deceased was a young man, not more than 25 years of age. It seems that yester- day he want out after dinner and did not return home until ons in the morning. He went to bed in his father's house, as usual. This morning at 6 o'clock he was found dead in his bed.

P. C. 37 salu. he found deceased dead in his bed at 67 Hollywood Road. There was a tea-cup on the side of his bed containing some opium. He took the body to the Hos pital.

deceased was his son; he last saw deceased Salerman, a Malay seaman, called, said alive last night; he was then quite sober. This morning about 6 o'clook the Amah came and told him Samsudeen was dead. Wit ness could assign no reason why deceased should take poison.

Dr. Wharry said deceased was brought to the Hospital about 8 o'clock this morning. There were no marks of violence about the body; life had apparently been extinct about an hour. Upon examination he found opiam in the stomach; the internal organs were, healthy, The oap shows him con- tained opium.

Tong Ayes, the amah, said deceased ra turned about 1 o'clock this morning, he was then sober. He had appeared troubled for some days back.

The Jury found that deceased died from Opium poisoning, there being un reason to suspect that the poison was administered by any one but himself...
