SIR,It may be some estisfaction to you. to know that, in oxpressing your opinions as you do about the doings at present going on in this Colony, you are saying the same that Chinese residents. All the well-to-do us- tives are feeling unsay about the present influx of bad characters, and they predict that, if the policy now followed be continued much longer, daring robberies with violence, in broad daylight and in the most populous parts of the town, will become a quite com Ron thing. A case occurred only the other day, where a Chinaman returning from Batavia was attacked by 6 or 7 men, one of whom at least was armed with a dagger, in the most populous part of the Chinese tow, in the most esntral part of Bonham Strand-at the junction of that thorough- face with Mercer Street. The case is on the Criminal Calendar for the ensuing Sensions. If it is not believed what I say, it can easily almost any Chinese shopkeeper or trader in the Colony.

Yesterday the de fendant took her out to buy things, and she slipped from her and made a report at the Supreme Court. The defendant said the complainant's story was entirely untrue, When she was 14 years of age she ran away with a man who sold her to become a con- cabine.
