We have very strong convictions as to the cause of the political excitement which seems to be overlastingly disturbing Ireland. Proba ANYONE who will give the subject ably if the British Government took little attention will probably come to the conclusion that much time is lost or wasted in Hongkong from want of system. Things are sacrificed to a nervous dis quieting idea of speed, the effect of which must tell upon both temper and health. To come from generals to particulars, what practical purpose is served by a wearied man being roused out of his first sleep to receive a telegram, from which perhaps he learns that quotations are unaltered.
