Mak Ahop, a cook unemployed, was charged by Air Daniel A. Da Costa, a clerk at the Post Lffice, for stealing a looket, a things were given to the house servant to pair of earrings and a brooch. These take care of, and they were placed in a box in his room. The defendant came once to visit him and was seen to leave the room as the servant entered. The jewellery was afterwards discovered to have been stolen, and the defendant was suspected. He denied this statement, however, now, and as the servant could not produce any corroborative evidence, the case was remanded till Mon- day next for enquiries.”
Chun Asing, an inmate of a brothel, was oharged by Alfred Martin, a seaman, on suspicion of stealing three $5 notes and $2.75. The complainant had $156 in notes and $16.75 in silver when he went to the house, and when he left he found that he was short of the sume mentioned above, Remanded till the 14th-1 admitted to bail in $50.
UNLAWFUL POSSESSION.
Cheong Aasm, a coolie, was charged by P. O. Kerr, with having in his posses- sion two boxes and two pillow boxes for which he could not account. He was found with the things in the Canton stoamer and at first said they belonged to him, but he could not say what the contents were. He then altered his story charge by a man whom he could not name and stated that they were given into his

I think I have clearly shown, in previous communications, that the Portuguese flag afforda no shelter to fugitive criminals. Not only has she willingly surrendered them, but you are evidently unaware that Portuguese can be tried at Macao for offences committed at Hongkong and other ports. This was done in the cases of Lou- reiro, bookeeper to Mesara, Dant & Co., and Vital who robbed Messrs. Falconer & Co., both of whom were sentenced at Macao to severe punishment for crimes committed out of that Colony.

Pan about 4 miles North of the Head. Then curve out, keeping 8 miles North of the land until the Hummocks bear 8.8. W., when ran in for Hol-how Bay, passing outside the Fishing Stakes.
