Mitchell, master of the late brig Georgina, has arrived in the river from Nagasaki, laden with coal; and is now offered for sale. She experienced rather heavy weather during | her passage, but proved a good ssabost.
The Chinese have been doubly compon- sated for the bad weather which prevented their usual visiting excursions on New-year's day, by their belief that snow at New-year time means a good rice arop and general good luck during the coming season, and by the subsequent bright weather which has enabled them to pay all their due visits in comfort. The past season in believed to have been generally a bad one for them, though there have been few failures. But they start on a new departure much more hopefully, and that hopefulness itself will help to supply the energy necessary to supdess.
