The first of a series of entertainments, in- tended to
be given at fortnightly intervala, for the benefit of the Relief Fund of the 73rd Regiment, come off last evening, at the North Barracks. His Excellenes the Governor and Lady MacDonnell, and other notabilities, military and novel, honoured the occasion with their presence. The pro- gramme was made up readings by the Rev. W. R. Beach, Major Reeves, and Bont. Edgerabe, and
by songs by the clever
company
of vocalists drawn from the band of the regiment. At the end of each reading there was much applause; the rocal
performances of the minstrels ters very well done, and received
appropriate acknowledgment. The object of these ex- tertainments is well worthy of support, and we hope to see "civilians" taking au earn- est interest in them.
