I.-1f the Prison is on a separate system, is the separation complete? And, if not, what is the separa- tion enforced by day and night respectively?
H.-If not on the separate system, what provisiou is there for the supervision of the prisoners while in
sociation?
III-How many cells are there; and how many
insociated wards 7
IV.-Taking the average number of prisoners in Gaol, how many cubic feet of space are there for each prisoner during the hours of sleep ?
Answers.
Hong Kong Prison is fully on the separate system but the supuration is not complete owing to over- crow.ling.
The Female Prison is partly on the separate system but prisoners are mainly in association both "night and day.
Hong Kong Prison :—All cell doors are provided with inspection holes through which the prisoners can be seen by the officers patrolling the wards. While at labour or exercise the prisoners are at ull times under the immediate supervision of Principal Warders, Warders, atud Assistant Warders. Female Prison cells have inspection holes. Warddresses patrol at night during the day the prisoners are under the supervision of the Matrons aml Wardresses.
Hong Kong Prison :- 1598 cells including 6 con- deinued cells, 6 observation colls, 2 pudded cells.
