Imports of Bituminous Coal decreased in volume from 822,000 tons to 642,000 tons, but increased in value from $12,573,000 to $12,632,000. There were increased imports from South Africa, India, Aus- tralia and the Netherlands East Indies. Imports from North China and Japan decreased by an approximate percentage of fifty.

Imports of Firewood increased from 2.4 million piculs ($1.8 millions) to 2.5 million piculs ($2.4 millions).

HARDWARE.

Imports totalled $6.0 millions as compared with $6.9 millions, and exports $3.0 millions as compared with $5.2 millions.

Imports of Cutlery and Electro-plated Ware decreased from $653,000 to $625,000, chiefly from the United Kingdom and Germany.

Imports of Enamelware increased from $218,000 to $428,000. There were increased imports from North China, Germany and Sweden. Imports from Japan decreased from $59,000 to $19,000.

Imports of Sewing Machines decreased from $2.8 millions to $988,000. Imports from Germany de- creased from $2.5 millions to $659,000, Exports to Japan decreased from $1.9 millions to $252.

Imports of Unenumerated Hardware increased from $2.2 millions to $2.6 millions.

Exports of locally manufactured Tinware increased from $300,000 to $172,000. Most of the exports were credited to China, British Malaya, Philippines and Siam.

LIQUORS (INTOXICATING).

Imports totalled $4.9 millions as compared with $4.1 millions, and exports $1.4 millions as compared with $1.4 millions.

Imports of Malt Liquors increased from 453,000 gallons ($10 million) to 604,000 gallons ($1.4 millions). From Japan 57,000 gallons were received as compared with 125,000 gallons; from the United Kingdom 192,000 gallons as compared with 169,000 gallons; from North China 277,000 gallous as com- pared with 89,000 gallons.

Imports of Spirits (Brandy, Gin, Rum and Whisky) increased from 92,000 gallons ($1.5 millions) to 121,000 gallons ($1.9 millions). Imports from the United Kingdom increased from 71,000 gallons ($1.1 millions) to 80,000 gallons ($1.4 millions).

Imports of Wines increased from 36.000 gallons ($482,000) to 44,000 gallons ($494,000).

Imports of Native Liquors decreased from 313,000 gallons ($829,000) to 278,000 gallons ($783,000), mainly from North China and Macao. Exports of Native Liquors decreased from 258,000 gallons ($808,000) to 203,000 gallons ($690,000).

MACHINERY AND ENGINES.

Timports totalled $17.1 millions as compared with $8.9 millions, and exports $6.5 millions as compared with $4.9 millions.

MANURES.

Imports totalled $9.8 millions as compared with $13.3 millions, and exports $13.2 millions as com- pared with $11.8 millions.

Imports of Sulphate of Ammonia decreased from 2.0 million piculs ($12.9 millions) to 1.2 million picule ($9.4 millions), and exports from 1.8 million piculs ($11,0 millions) to 1.4 million piculs ($12.4 millions).

METALS.

Imports totalled $48.1 millious as compared with $67.4 millions, and exports $36.8 millions as com- pared with $44.6 millions.

Imports of Iron and Steel Bars decreased from 876,000 piculs ($7.6 millions) to 274,000 piculs ($8.5 millions); largely from Belgium and the United Kingdom. Exports to China totalled 158,000 piculs as compared with 892,000 piculs.

Imports of Wire Nails increased from 47,000 piculs ($535,000) to 51,000 piculs ($809,000). Imports from 17,000 from U.S.A. increased from "Nil" to 17,000 picula, whilst imports from Japan decreased piculs to 1,000 piculs and Belgium from 24,000 piculs to 15,000 piculs.
