Wholesale prices in the Colony during the year 1935 recorded decreases of 14.9% as compared with 1934, 24.7% as compared with 1923, 36.4% as compared with 1932, 43.0% as compared with 1931, 27.1% as compared with 1924 and 22.1% as compared with the base period of 1929.
As compared with 1934 there were decreases in 1935 in each of the four groups of commodities, the index number of Foodstuffs declining 9.4%, Textiles 13.6%, Metals and Minerals 18.1%, and Miscellaneous Items 18.3%.
