FUELS.

Imports totalled $11.5 millions as compared with $14.0 millions, and exports $1.1 millions as compared with $2.1 millions.

Imports of Charcoul totalled 260,000 piculs ($582,000) as compared with 256,000 piculs ($531,000).

Imports of Bituminous Coal fell from 889,000 tons ($10.9 millions) to 699,000 tons ($8.3 millions), and exports from 136,000 tons ($1.9 millions) to 62,000 tons ($866,000). Imports from India fell from 140,000 to 53,000 tons, South Africa from 26,000 to 8,000 tons and North China from 193,000 to 152,000 tone, whilst imports from Japan increased from 475,000 to 479,000 tons, and the Netherlands East Indies from 4,000 to 8,000 tons. South China took 39,000 as compared with 112,000 tons.

Imports of Firewood increased from 2.1 million pieuls ($1.8 millions) to 2.4 million piculs ($1.9 millions).

HARDWARE.

Imports totalled $2.9 millions as compared with $4.0 millions, and exports $2.1 millions as compared with $2.4 millions.

Imports of Cutlery and Electroplated Ware declined from $575,000 to $344,000, the United Kingdom figure falling from $221,000 to $94,000, Germany from $153,000 to $54,000 and U.S.A. from $58,000 to $19,000. Imports from South China increased from $60,000 to $97,000 and Japan from $66,000 to $71,000.

Imports of Enamelware fell from $325,000 to $270,000, the suure of Germany falling from $107,000 to $55,000, and Japan increasing from $63,000 to $106,000.

Sewing Machine imports totalled $135,000 as compared with $438,000.

LIQUORS (INTOXICATING).

Imports totalled $3.9 millions as compared with $3.8 millions, and exports $1.2 millions as compared with $933,000.

Imports of Malt Liquors amounted to 366,000 gallons ($871,000) as compared with 382,000 gallons ($1.0 million).

Imports from the United Kingdom fell from 235,000 to 200,000 gallons and Germany from 37,000 to 12,000 gallons, whilst the share of Japan increased from $6,000 to 114,000 gallons, British Malaya from 178 to 18,000 gallons, and U.S.A. from 52 to 2,906 gallons.

Imports of Spirits (Brandy, Gin, Rum and Whisky) declined from 102,000 gallons ($1.6 millions) to 99,000 gallons ($1.5 millions), the share of the United Kingdom increasing from 63,000 to 71,000 gallons. An initial import of 20 gallons was recorded from U.S.A.

Imports of Wines increased from 33,000 to 34,000 gallons.

Both imports and exports of Native Liquors showed increases, imports amounting to 324,000 gallons ($886,000) as compared with 218,000 gallons ($453,00)), and exports to 238,000 gallons ($752,000) as compared with 133,000 gallons ($307,000). Imports from Macao increased from 108,000 gallons to 161,000 gallons.

MACHINERY AND ENGINES.

Imports totalled $6.9 millions as compared with $5.8 millions and exports $5.8 millions as compared with $1.9 millions.

Imports of Agricultural Machinery increased from $10,000 to $177,000, and unenumerated Industrial Machinery from $315,000 to $702,000.

Knitting Machine imports dropped from $21,000 to $2,000.

Imports of Railway Locomotives and Tenders totalled $124,000 as compared with $24.000, U.S.A. accounting for $110,000.

MANURES.

Imports totalled $2.0 millions as compared with $9.9 millions, and exports $3.5 millions as compared with $9.3 millions.

Imports of Sulphate of Ammonia amounted to 315,000 pieuls ($1.8 millions) as compared with 1.3 million piculs ($9.5 millions), and exports to 485,000 picurls ($3.1 millions) as compared with 1.1 million piouls ($8.6 millions). Imports from the United Kingdom fell froin 650,000 to 120,000 piculs, and Germany from 522,000 to 49,000 piculs.
