Schedule of Charges for Bacteriological Examinations in the Bacteriological Institute :—
General Directions:
1. All specimens for examination must be received in proper condition, and should be addressed to the Government Bacteriologist. Especial care should be taken in the case of specimens sent by post as regards packing, etc.
2. Each specimen must be accompanied by a written statement having thereou
(1) Name and address of sender,
(2) The provisional diagnosis,
(3) The nature of the examination required.
8. Tissue for section should be placed in 10 % formalin solution or failing this in 50% alcohol. IT IS MOST IMPORTANT in these cases that the accompanying statement include the clinical history.
4. Diagnostic examinations for indigent patients are performed free of charge, only if the practitioner certifies on the request that the patient is nuable to pay a fee, and as long as the work of the laboratory is not interfered with.
5. The Widal reaction for Enteric fever, the examination of Diphtheria swabs, or of material from a suspected case of Plague or Cholera will be done free of charge, for any case within the Colony.
6. Only sterile swabs for use in suspected cases of Diphtheria and outfits for taking blood for the Widal reaction, will be supplied free.
7. Reports are issued from this laboratory on the strict understanding that they will not be used in any legal proceedings whatsoever.
