SURVEY OF StramshiPS :—

The fees prescribed in these scales do not cover any other services whatever. (b) When a ship is finally detained, or when it appears that a ship pro- visionally detained was at the time an unsafe ship, the fee for survey by a Govern- ment Surveyor is to be as follows:-

(i) If the detention is on account of overloading, improper loading, in- sufficient ventilation of coal cargoes, undermanning, or defective equipments such as charts or chronometers the fee is to be the same as that prescribed in Scale A.

(ii) If the detention is on account of defective hull or machinery the fer

is to be the same as that prescribed in Scale B.

Survey prior to re-registry of a ship whose Registry

has been closed on account of wreck, etc.

14. (a) The fee for the survey and certificate is the same as that prescribed in Regulation 13, Scale B.

(In the case of hulk, lighter or sailing ship which does not proceed to sea the fee is $20.

(e) This fee covers the inspection of crew spaces and lights and sound signals, but not the measurement for tonnage. Except in the case of a bulk or lighter, the fee also covers the survey for load-line if held at the same time as the survey for seaworthiness and provided that if the fee for survey for load-line is the greater, the balance is paid.

Survey Prior to Change of Name.

15.-(a) When a Surveyor is directed to survey a ship for seaworthiness with a view to the change of her name the fee is to be the same as that prescribed in Section 12 Scale B. If however the ship is employed solely as a steam tug the survey of the boilers only will be required and the fee will be one-half that pre- scribed in Regulation 17 (4).

(b) The fee for authorising the change of name of a British registered ship is as follows:-

This fee is to be charged in each case without reference to the description or service of the ship and covers the inspection of marking; the change of name on the load-line, Suez and Panama Certificates: and, in the case of a ship holding a passenger certificate, the issue of a fresh declaration and passenger certificate (in duplicate) showing the new name and any alterations in the ownership and port| of registry.

Survey prior to transfer to a foreign play.

16. The fee for survey prior to transfer to a foreign flag is to be the same as that prescribed in Regulation 13, Scale B.

Eramination of plans and survey of marine boilers,

17.—(a) For the examination of plans of a boiler the fee is $30.

(b) Scale of fees for survey of one boiler during construction up to and in- cluding the hydraulic test:-
