Apparatus:-

(A) Spark. Marconi 5 K.W., working on 600, 900, 1.800 metre wave lengths. Normal

working range 350 miles.

(B) Continuous Ware and Interrupted Continuous Ware. Marconi 6 K.W. Valve, work- ing on 2.098 and 2,913 metres wave length. Normal working range 1,000 miles.

(C) 500 watt Short Wave transmitter using rectified 50 cycle supply partly smoothed and

working on 31.75 metres. Normal working range 720 miles.

(D) 500 watt Short Wave transmitter using Self rectified 50 cycle supply working on

28.2 metres. Normal working range 750) miles.

(E) 500 watt Short Wave transmitter using Self rectified 30 cycle supply working on

34.68 metres. Normal working range 500 miles.

Services:-

(1) With (A) the station conducts the following services :-

(a) Commercial service with ships at sea.

(b) Broadcasts weather reports twice daily at 0400 and 1200 G.M.T. Naviga-

tion warnings, if any, follow the weather reports.

(e) Hong Kong storm warnings broadcast on receipt and at 18 minutes past

every hour until 1600 G.M.T.

(2) With (B) the station conducts commercial services with Canton, Swatow. Hoihow, Wuchow, Nanning. Macao and Kwongchowan. The station is also used for com- mercial C.W. service with ships at sea. at fixed times, for transmitting time signals on 2,913 metres and for broadcasting weather reports and navigation warn- ings twice daily.

(3) With (C) and (D) the station conducts a Short Wave commercial service with British North Borneo, French Indo China, China, Siaut and Philippines aud ria the Philippines to American Coutinent, Europe, Dutch East Indies and Dutch Borneo.

(4) Station (C) is also used for meteorological traffic with Shanghai and Phulien. (5) The transmitters are all located at Cape D'Aguilar and are remotely controlled by both the Radio Telegraph Office, Des Voux Road, Victoria, and the Royal Observa- tory Wireless Station Kowloon.

(6) The receivers for the various services are situated in the Royal Observatory Wireless Station Kowloon and the Radio Telegraph Office Victoria, a system of tone channels connecting the two.

(7) A summary of Meteorological conditions is broadcasted on 2,913 metres C.W. at

0500 and 1,300 G.M.T.

(8) Time signals controlled from the Royal Observatory Kowloon are emitted twice daily

at 0156-0200 and 1256-1300 G.M.T. on 2,913 metres I.C.W.

(9) Typhoon warnings are broadcasted on 600 metres immediately on receipt and at 13

minutes past every hour until 1600 G.M.T.
