Conditions :-
1. Postage or freight must be propuid. 2.—Applications and samples should be addressed to the Government Analyst, who will inform the applicant as to the cost of the ex- amination, and will give a bill for the same which must be at once paid to the Colonial Treasurer,
3.—The right is reserved of refusing samples from beyond the boundaries of the Colony, or such samples as may not be considered of sufficient public importance to warrant analysis,
4. The locality from which the samples come must be clearly described. 5.-All samples analysed will remain the property of the Government. 6.—The Government will not recognise any claims arising from the results
of analysis.
Schedule of Charges for Bacteriological Examinations in the Bacteriological Institute :-
General Directions:-
1. Sterile Swabs for use in cases of suspected diphtheria, aud outfits for taking blood for Widul's blood examination, will be supplied on application. In other enses requiring lacteriological examination, the material must be sent in sterile stoppered bottles or jars, und every precaution must be taken to prevent the entrance of extraneous organisms,
2. Tissues for the preparation of sections, which cannot reach the Laboratory within a few hours of removal, may be placed in 50 per cent. spirit. They should if possible be placed in Zenker's solution while still warm, This solution will be supplied if desired.

3. Each specimen must be accompanied by a written statement of
and address of the semier; (b) the provisional diagnosis of the caso; (e) a detailed statement of the nature of the examination required. The specimen will not be examined unless this is done,
4. Material for examination must be addressed to the Government Bacteriologist, Bacteriological Institute, and must be received in proper condition, In euse of material sent by post proper precaution must be taken in packing.
5. In all chemical reports and in certain other cases, c.g., the examination of blood filmus, only the facts observed will be reported. The interpretation of the facts will be left to the person receiving the report.
6. Widal's reaction against B. Typhosus, and B. Paratyphosus A. & B. examination of diphtheria swabs and examination of material from supposed cases of Cholera or Pingue will be done free of charge for any ense within the Colony. 7. Diagnostic examinations are performed free of charge for indigent patients if the physician certifies on the request that the patient is indigent and marble to pay a fee, and as long as the work of the Laboratory is not interfered with. 8. Reports sent out from the Laboratory are entirely for the assistance of the medical practitioner, and are issued on the condition that they may not be used for legal proceedings.
