Answers.
There is un trend-mill labour, but shot-hill, emank- Jibour, and stone-carrying are in force.
The hours of labour throughout the year are from the 1st March to the 31st Oet iber from 6.15 a.. to 4.15 pam, and from the 1st November to the 25th February from 6.45 a.m. to 4.15 pan., cue leur bring allowed for dinner. Prisoners at crank labour, full task, have to complete 12,500 revolutions at a 12. pressure, European and Chinese prisoners at shot-drill do 1 hours in spella of half an hour at a time, with stone- currying of oakum-picking in the intervals,
Tailoring, she-muking, carpentering, gissa and voir mat making, ratton work, printing, book-binding, uet making, tinsmithing, washing, cleaning, and incidental repairs to the Prison building».
Prisoners inve not been employed outside the Gianl daing the year.
The total expenditure of the Gaol in 1911 was $93,459.23, of which the sum of 32,251, 48 was refunded for the subsistence of Naval, Military Court Martial prisoners, Debtors, &c., as follows:—

The total amount paid into the Treasury during the 1921 acconet of Prison Industrial Labour was $4.627.79, of which $147.90 was for 1919, and $1,479.89 for *1911.
The average time during which the prisoners sleep is about 1 hours in 24.

The cells of the Victoria Guol are not lighted, bur gas is kept burning in all passages and corridors, und the Assistant Worders on duty are provided with lamps to throw light into the cells when required,
