REMARKS

(1) Mr. Mewer acted as Colonial Treasurer in addition to other duties from 1st April to 31st December and drew half salary as Colonial Treasurer and full pay and allowance as Postmaster General from 1st August to 28th October.

(2) Allowance for extra work on the arrival of an English or French Mail from Europe, and of a Canadian or United States Mail on a Sunday, on the following scale:— Salary $1,200 and upwards, $3 per Mail; $600 and under $1,200, $2 per Mail; $480 and under $600, $1 per Mail. The allowance is doubled in the case of an English or French Mail arriving on a Sunday or holiday.

(3) Date of first appointment under the Government of Hong Kong: Vincent, 8th March, 1880.

(4) Mr. R. Gutierrez acted as Senior Clerk from 1st January to 20th October and drew half initial pay and full House Allowance of Senior Clerk and full pay as 2nd Grade Clerk.
