HONGKONG VOLUNTEER CORPS.
The Corps as it existed until 1893 consisted solely of an Artillery Corps. It was not made subject to the Army Act, and consequently was not held to be in a military sense a reliable force in the event of war.
In 1893 the forec was disbanded by the Government and a new Volunteer Corps was formed under Ordinance No. 6 ef 1893, which placed the Corps.under the supervision of the military authorities as in England, and made it subject to the Army Act to the same extent as the Volunteer Force in England. Amemled Regulations were made by the Governor-in-Council on the 25th May, 1899, aud again amended on the 6th November, 1902.
The establishment of the Corps has now been fixed as follows:-

and a Troup,
with a Staff of 1 Major Commandant and Adjutant, 1 Major 2nd in Command, 2 Medical Officers, 1 Corps Sergeant Major, aud 1 Orderly Room Clerk (Chinesd), and 1 Armourer Sergeant.
The Staff is complets, and the other Units have been formed, with netual strength as follows :—
