HONGKONG VOLUNTEER CORPS.
The Corps as it existed until 1893 consisted solely of an Artillery Corps. It was not made subject to the Army Act, and consequently was not held to be in a military sense a reliable force in the event of war.
In 1993 the force was disbanded by the Government and a new Volunteer Corps was formed under Ordinance No. 6 of 1893, which placol the Corps under the supervision of the military authorities as in England, and mndo it subject to the Army Act to the same extent as the Volunteer Force in England. Amended Reguln- tions were made by the Governor-in-Council on the 25th May, 1899, and
The establishment of the Corps has now been fixed as follows:-
1 Battery of Light Field Artillery,
3 Machine Gun Companies,
1 Engineer Company,
1 Infantry Company, and Band:
with a Staff of 1 Licut.-Colonel Commandant, 1 Major 2ul în Command, 1 Adjutaat nuð Quarter-Master, 2 Medical Officers aud 1 Corps Quarter-Master-Sergeant.
The staff is complete, and the other Units have been formed, numbering as follows:—

There are in addition 2 unenrolled Boy Signallers, 2 unenrolled Boy Trumpeters, and 7 unenrolled Boy Drummers.
