REMARKS.

(1) Commander W. C. II. Hastings acted as Police Magistrate and Coroner from 1st Jan, to 15th Feb, and drew half pay of office. Mr. T. Sercombe Smith performed duties from Hith Feh, to 27th June. On leave from 28th June to 31st Dec. Mr. H. H. J. Gompertz Acting Police Magistrate and Coroner from 28th June to 31st Dec., on half pay from 28th Oct. to 31st Dec.

(2) Full salary of office $2,592, but deduction made of $360 per annum as value of Quarters. Mr. W. M. B. Arthur on leave from

1st to 11th January, Mr. C. W. Doggin acted as First Clerk and drew half pay during that period.
