XXI. What are shortly the rules as to diet?

Answers.

With the exeption of debtors and first class misde- menants atel prisoners on remaid or committed for trial, all prisoners are placed on penal diet of bread for rice) and water on two days of ench week (Saturday and Sunday) for the first six months of their imprison-

inent.

At other times, except when under punishment for Prison offences, the diet of eneh prisoner is as follows:---

NOTE-Any prisoner sentenced to more than 'five days Penal Diet, to have one pint of Gruel at Break- fast and Supper.
