LOCAL REVENUES.

The Chinese inhabitants contribute, by a voluntary assessment among themselves, to the pay of District Watchmen. They contributed for the year 1888, and received from the Government a Grant-in-Aid of,

$4,094.78 2,000.00

The Governor appoints to the Office of Watchmen such fit persons whom he may con- sider to be sufficiently recommended by the Inhabitants of any District, under the Provisions of Ordinance 13 of 1888.
