LOCAL REVENUES.

The Chinese inhabitants contribute, by a voluntary assessment among themselves, to the pay of District Watchmen. They contributed for the year 1887,.. and received from the Government a Grant-in-Aid of,................

The Governor appoints to the Office of Watchmen such fit persons whom he may con- sider to be sufficiently recommended by the Inhabitants of any District, under the Provisions of Ordinance 7 of 1866.
