I. TO COUNTRIES OF THE POSTAL UNION.

General Rates of Postage to the Countries of the Postal Union.

PER 1/2 OZ. LETTERS POST CARDS EACH PER 2 OZ. COMMERCIAL PAPERS, PATTERNS & SAMPLES BOOKS, NEWSPAPERS & PRICES CURRENT REGISTRATION

The sender of any Registered Article may have a receipt sent with it, for signature by the addressee and return, on paying an extra fee of 5 cents, except that all Packets of and under 4 oz. weight are charged 5 cents each. Commercial Papers signify any papers which, though wholly or partly written by hand, have not the character of an actual and personal correspondence, such as Invoices, Deeds, Copied Music, &c. The rate is the same as for Books.

Unpaid Articles are charged double the deficient postage.

Parcel Post—Parcels containing no letters may be forwarded at Book Rates to Ceylon, India, the Straits Settlements, and to all Local Ports except those the names of which are printed in Italics. Parcels are forwarded to India by P. & O. and Indian Packets only, to Ceylon by P. & O. Packet only, to all other places by Private Steamers only. For Rules see Postal Guide, par. 101–103. Registration of parcels for Ceylon and India is compulsory. A declaration of contents is required with parcels for India.

(c) Prepayment is compulsory.

(d) Via Singapore, 10 cents.

(e) Between Hongkong, Canton, and Macao, 2 cents.
