(2.) Mr. J. M. d'Almada e Castro entered Her Majesty's Service in the Office of the Chief Superintendent of

British Trade in China, on the 1st January, 1841, and was appointed by Sir Henry Pottinger, Dart., on the 1st July, 1843, to a situation of 3rd Clerk in the Colonial Secretary's Office.
