Under War Office Authority No. 483a, dated 7th June, 1870, the Military Contribution is paid in at the rate of Exchange current for Bills on London at sight on the day when the payment is made, and as cau be seen from the above statement, in consequence of the very low rate of Exchange that prevailed during the period under review, the Imperial Government gained £403. 19. 6. on the yearly contribution of £20,000 Sterling.
