MILITARY EXPENDITURE.
Enumerate the Military Posts und Works; spreifying whether the same are under the control of the Ordnance Department, and whether any expense is incurred an account thereof by the Colony ;
A General Return of the Militia, and any other Local Corps, with the Charge attending the same;
The Pecuniary Allowances (if any) granted to the Queen's Troops; and the Value of Rations, Quarters, or other advantages received by thein, and forming a Charge on the Colony;
Ascertain and state the Amount of Bills drawn by the Commissariat for the Pay and Allowances of the Troops; the Amount of Bills drawn by the Oriluance Department for Pay and Allowances of the Detachments of Itoyal Artillery and Engineers; and the Amount of Expenses incurved by the Ordnance Dequetment for the con- struction and repair of Military Works.

Under W. O. Authority 11834, 7th June, 1870, the Military Contribution is allowed to be paid into the Treasury Chest according to the rate of Exchange Current for Bills on London at sight on the day when the payment is made. Only on one occasion during the past year has the Quarterly Amount been paid in ut 4 3. By this arrangement, the Colony has become the gainer of £204.15.6 during the period.
