To each European prisoner is issued weekly the following allowances at a cost of $1.40 per week: 10 lbs of bread, and the Beef or Pork, 1 lb Vegetables. The tea, 1/4 lb Sugar and 1/2 oz of salt.
The weekly allowance of food to the Black and Chinese prisoners consists of 12 lbs of Rice, 1 lb Salt fish, 12 oz fresh fish, 2 lbs Vegetables, 1/2 oz Salt, 5 g Chutney per day, and in winter 1 lb and in Summer 8 oz of Beef Bone. This dietary costs 34 cents per week in Summer and 30 cents in Winter.
The provisions and clothing contracted for annually by the superintendent. The medicines are supplied from the Government Civil Hospital.
Chinese prisoners are provided with drill and duck clothing throughout the year, with the addition of flannel in Winter, the cost of which for each prisoner is $4. For bedding they each are allowed 1 Blanket, the cost of which is $4 per annum.
