COINS.

The only Gold Coins legally current are those of the United Kingdom and the East India Company's Gold Mohur, coined since 1st September 1895, Value £1.9.2 Sterling - This latter however is seldom if ever met with in the Colony.

The Silver coins besides those of the United Kingdom, are the Dollars of Spain, Mexico, and the South America. States each equivalent to 1/2" Sterling. The East India Company's Rupees, Half and quarters Rupees at 1/10. 112 and 5pt respectively.

The Dollar of Spain is carely, if ever met with as a;

~ perfect Coin, but always chopped or broken, and passes by weight yoy Fails being Equivalent to 1000 Dollars - In this state the Spanish Dollars are not -legal lender, but being the standard by which all Commercial transactions with the Chinese av ryulated at the Consular Ports, it is also the principal currency of the island.

The Copper Coins are there of the Unitex Kingdom, and Copper Cash of China, 24 of which are equal to one penny starting. British Silver is not a legal tender above £2.
