M-Caldwell intered the Extorial forvice on the 10th January 1843 - On the 6th October 1847 he resigned the office he then held of Chinese Interprcter to the Police fourt and assistant superintendent of Felice - An the 2 + Recember 18ty he rejoined the Service as Apistant Superintendent of Police and Geneal Interpreter, which Office he held up to the 3rd July, 1885 when he again resigned, The Situation under the Government - On the 17th November 1856 he was readmitted into the Colonial service under his c present designation._
