During the year Government House was finally completed and in point of arrangement and general design is not inferior to any Building of the same kind and finished at the same expense at home. With one exception, that of the roof, the works have been well and efficiently executed, although the Surveyor General must have experienced extraordinary difficulty in drilling the native workmen to carry out the details so creditably.
Three new Cook houses have been built in the Gaol Yard and the old ones removed so as to afford better surveillance of the Work Yard from the Guard House.
Repairs have been effected to the Supreme Court House, to the Post Office, to the Wong Nei Chung Cemetery Chapel, to No. 1 Police Station, to the Police Barrack at Aberdeen, and the Government Flagstaff removed from the... has been removed.
