Sir,

I have the honor to submit my annual Report upon the progress of the Department for the year 1855, for the information of His Excellency The Governor.

At the Works at Government House itself, the same amount of difficulties as reported last year still existed; the total failure of the contractor resulted [in] the securities being refused to assist, and of them having throughout given great opposition, the Bond was put in force to a certain extent, and payment was exacted from him.
