13. Is there a Chapel in the Prison, or suitable Apartment for the performance of Religious Services? How are the Prisoners separated therein?
Answer: There is an Apartment suitable for the performance of religious services, and prayers are celebrated by the Chaplain on Sundays.
14. What Duties are performed by the Chaplain? What provision is made for the Instruction of the Prisoners; and are they supplied with Bibles and other suitable Books?
Answer: Service on the Sabbath, and occasionally visiting the Prisoners. The Prisoners are supplied with Bibles, Prayer Books and religious tracts.
15. Are Dissenting Ministers allowed to have access to the Prisoners; and, if so, at what times, and under what restrictions?
Answer: Have access at all times, and under no restrictions.
16. What Duties are performed by the Surgeon? Are separate Buildings or Apartments provided for the Sick?
Answer: Attending and dispensing Medicines daily. A separate Apartment is provided for the sick. Colonial Surgeon visits the Prison Hospital daily.
17. What Diseases have been most prevalent during the Year (in reference to Columns 10 and 11, Return No. 1) prevalence and severity?
Answer: Intermittent Fever and Dysentery: The latter disease predominating.
18. Reasons for Non-employment of Prisoners (in reference to Column 6)?
Answer: Prisoners committed for trial at the first session, and remanded cases.
