He returned to the Colony on the 20th July. From the 2nd February to 4th December, 1848, the duties of his office were performed by .... From the last mentioned date to the 11th July, the duties of Registrar General were entrusted to Mr. S. Stevenson, the late Mr. J. Smithers acting as Clerk in his place.
