One European Constable will be on sentry over the Convict Jail day and night, his duty is to take charge of the sick, Cooks, and Sweepers, not allow them to leave the prison unless accompanied by Subordinate Jail Staff. He will also visit the Indian Constable on sentry over the solitary Cells every half hour during the night and see that he is alert on duty.
One European Constable will remain at the prison all day, he will keep the keys in his possession during the day, and at sunset deliver them to the Night Constable.
One Indian Constable will be posted on the Solitary Cells and remain so posted till six o'clock the following morning. Each prisoner must be searched before he is locked up, clothes, food, or any other thing will be taken from him.
No prisoner will be allowed to quit his cell unless to labour, exercise, or to obey a call of nature, without especial permission. No prisoner will be allowed to receive visitors or to have anything passed to him without being previously inspected by the Constable on duty.
