Arrived in Manchmia as a Missionary in 1872: went to Muk- den in 1875; from Mukden travelled in all directions instituting a large number of congregations between Mukden and the Sungari; during this period cccurred the Japanese invasion of Manchuria during war with China, the Boxer uprising and Russo Japanese war, when the Christian missions suffered very severely.
