Hong Kong Annual Administration Reports, 1841-1941
2.It is with much satisfaction that I am able to report a considerable increase in the Revenue of this year over that estimated. Reference to Governor Kennedy's Despatch No.222 & 227 of the 24th November will shew that owing to the disaster at Topham it was thought advisable to provide against probable reduced receipts from certain sources, happily the Colony recovered itself earlier than could have been anticipated, and the state of trade, though dull slightly in comparison with that of the preceding year, improved.
