A. Fees Rates.
1. Government Schools.
(a) Urban.
$60-$105 per annum.
(i) Schools for British European children (ii) Secondary English schools for Chinese Boys $60-$120 (iii) Secondary English schools for Chinese Girls $48 (iv) Primary English schools for Chinese Boys
(v) Primary English schools for Indians Boys (vi) Trade & Technical schools
(vii) Vernacular schools Boys
(viii) Vernacular schools Girls
(ix) Evening Institute
(b) Rural.
(i) Primary English schools for Chinese $60 (ii) Primary vernacular schools for Chinese $6 (iii) $24 (iv) $36-$120 (v) $55 (vi) $60-$96* (vii) $36-$72* (viii) $20 (ix) $6-$12 (x) $29*Rate for normal classes in these schools is $24 per annum.
A medical fee (50-$3 per annum) is payable in all Government schools.
2. Grant Schools.
(1) English schools, Boys $44-$168 per annum. (2) English schools, Girls $36-$156 (3) Vernacular schools $27-$1053. Private Schools.
(1) Vernacular schools $12-$60 (2) English schools $24-$120B. Exemption from Fees and Scholarships.
In almost every case 'scholarship' means exemption or partial exemption from fees. Usually there is no provision for books or subsistence.
