AMBULANCE SERVICE.

24. The twelve motor ambulances maintained by the Brigade attended altogether 11,592 cases during the year, and travelled 116,478 miles.

The undermentioned summary shows the number of cases attended and mileage during the past five years:-

25. AWARD OF COLONIAL FIRE BRIGADES MEDAL.

His Majesty the King was pleased to award the Colonial Fire Brigades Medal to the Superintendent, Mr. J. C. Fitz Henry, for gallantry on the occasion of the serious fire at Connaught Road West during a typhoon on 2nd September, 1937.

AWARD OF LONG SERVICE MEDAL.

26. Head Foreman LI PO was awarded the Colonial Fire Brigade Long Service Medal during the year.

COMMENDATIONS.

27. His Excellency the Governor highly commended the following officers and men of the Brigade for zealous and courageous action on the occasion of the serious fire in Shanghai Street on 3.12.39. The men saved several persons by rescue with fire escapes.
