147. Travel Association Kiosk:-This work was reported as completed in paragraph 205 of last year's Report. The payment of the retention money was required to be made during the year.

148. Ma Tau Kok-Slaughter House: It was decided not to proceed with this work and therefore no expenditure was incurred.

GENERAL Works.
149. Roads:-Works carried out under this head included the kerbing and channelling of portions of twenty-one roads. Footpaths were paved with granolithic paving or slabs and the necessary improvements made in front of new buildings erected during the year.

150. Drainage-(a) Training Nullahs:-The wall of Mong Kok nullah between Shanghai Street and Lai Chi Kok Road was built up to the required height; cement concrete coping and parapet walling were also constructed on both sides.

(b) Miscellaneous:-New sewers and storm water drains varying from 45″ to 6″ in diameter were constructed to a total length of 3,371 feet of which a length of 450 feet was relaying of sewers in re-entered scavenging lanes. The number of drain connections made was 115. Several lengths of channelling were laid. Many new gullies with flat gully gratings were constructed and connected to the storm water drainage system.

Miscellaneous: The following works were carried out:-Kowloon Post Office-brass plates fixed, Kowloon Hospital-clothes boiler erected and bank to site cut back, Hung Hom Sand Depôt-concrete wall erected, Chatham Road, Tong Mei and Arran Street Playgrounds-notice boards erected. Improvements and additions to the electrical installation were carried out in twelve buildings.
