113. Electric Lighting :-The total number of street lamps in use at the end of the year was 32.

114. Typhoon and Rainstorm Damages :-Considerable damage was caused by typhoon and rainstorm damage. Government buildings, piers, catchwaters, conduits and embankments were repaired where necessary. Telephone poles and lines and submarine cables were overhauled and put in working order. Debris was removed from numerous land slips. Stormwater drains and catchpits were cleared of sand and silt.

115. Maintenance of Village Supplies: (a) Tsun Wan:- The total quantity of water supplied during the year was 21.23 million gallons as compared with 16.95 million gallons for last year, equivalent to an average daily consumption of 58,000 gallons. Details are given in Table X.
There were twelve public stand pipes and eight fire hydrants in use at the close of the year. House services were constructed, altered or repaired in five instances.
(b) Fanling :—The total quantity of water supplied during the year was 12.36 million gallons compared with 10.56 million gallons last year, and equivalent to an average consumption of 34,000 gallons per day. Details are given in Table X.
House services were constructed, altered or repaired in fifteen instances.
(c) Taipo: The total quantity of water supplied during the year was 33.64 million gallons as compared with 30.93 last year, and equivalent to an average consumption of 92,000 gallons per day. Details are given in Table X.
There were thirteen public stand pipes and twenty-four fire hydrants in use at the close of the year. House services were constructed, altered or repaired in thirty-two instances.
(d) Un Long:-The total quantity of water supplied during the year was 12.35 million gallons as compared with 5.42 million gallons for the previous half year and equivalent to an average consumption of 34,000 gallons per day. Details are given in Table X.
