Annexe I.

REPORT BY THE INSPECTORS OF ENGLISH SCHOOLS

GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS.

(a) Provided.

1. Queen's College.-Headmaster, Mr. F. J. de Rome, M.B.E., B.Sc. The maximum Monthly Enrolment was 613. The Average Attendance was 565 being an increase of 15.

2. In the School Certificate Examination which was held in June, 62% of the candidates passed, two with Honours. Two of the successful candidates were appointed Students-in-Training at the University of Hong Kong.

3. Six past pupils graduated from the University of Hong Kong at the end of the year.

4. Compulsory School Games are held on two days a week on the Queen's College Ground at Causeway Bay. Organised games include Football, Volley Ball, Basket-ball, and Tennis. There are also facilities at the ground for cricket practice.

5. The College Magazine, "The Yellow Dragon" appeared as usual, and the Queen's College Old Boys' Association held several meetings.

6. News was received in January of the death of Dr. G. H. Bateson Wright, D.D., Headmaster of Queen's College from November 1881 to 1909.

7. King's College.-Headmaster, Mr. W. Kay, M.A. The maximum enrolment was 782. The average attendance was 694.

8. In the School Certificate Examination held in June, 70% of the candidates passed, one with Honours.

9. A larger number of boys entered for the various events at the College Sports. The introduction of the "house system" has developed considerable enthusiasm for games. Many boys learned to swim in the Swimming pool.

10. The College entered for all the various Schools Leagues and won the Small Boys Volley Ball League.

11. Ellis Kadoorie School.-Headmaster, Mr. G. W. Reeve, B.A. Maximum enrolment was 422. Average attendance 394, an increase of 56.
