12. The following are totals of revenue and expenditure for the department for the years 1935 and 1936 respectively, (the expenditure including personal emoluments of officers in the Junior Clerical Service):-

The increase in net profit for the year 1935 was accounted for by the fact that a sum of $48,885.82 was transferred to general revenue as unclaimed balances, whereas the revenue from the same source for the year 1936 amounted to only $3,572.60.
