98. The foundry, which was started last year for the casting of non-ferrous alloys, proved to be so economical that it was decided to extend it to deal with cast-iron castings. 101. The dilapidated timber structure at Sheung Shui station was demolished and a permanent station building erected in its place. The curb of the platform was extended 86 feet, and the whole surface remetalled. A short loop, capable of accommodating 3 coaches or 5 wagons, was added to the south end of the station yard.

102. A new halt called Che Kung Miu was established at mile 6.14 in November. Passenger facilities were provided by the provision of a narrow temporary platform 300 feet in length.

103. A book-stall was erected in Kowloon Station concourse in April. The stall was rented out, and its cost was recovered by the middle of October.

104. Improvements to Kowloon Station and Yard were completed as under:-

(a) The car loading dock was extended 30 feet.

(b) A platform 150 feet long was built along the goods siding adjoining Chatham Road. A metalled approach road, 15 feet wide, was made to facilitate the movement of heavy motor lorries.

(c) A new train direction board was erected.

(d) Luggage and Cloak room facilities were provided.

(e) An additional iron gate was installed at the entrance to platform No. 6.
