TYTAM TUK CATCHWATERS.
213. Dragon's Back Catchwater (Second Section):- This is a continuation of the First Section referred to in paragraph 238 of last year's Report, the whole, together with the Tytam Tuk East Catchwater, having a continuous length of 20,993 feet.
This Second Section, draining the Western slopes of the Dragon's Back Ridge, runs approximately at a level of 160 A.O.D. and parallel to that portion of the Shek O Road that extends from Tytam Gap towards Cape D'Aguilar.
This catchwater is constructed in five different sizes; the cross-sectional areas of which are 21.8, 14.5, 9.1, and 4.6 square feet respectively, the maximum velocity being eight feet per second.
The general construction of the catchwater is similar to that of Tytam Tuk East Catchwater, except that there is no dry weather flow channel in the invert and the sidewalls are of 1:4:8 cement concrete in place of lime and cement concrete.
Other pertinent data are given in Table XIV showing details of the completed scheme. A contract was let to Messrs. Sang Lee & Co. on the 8th October, 1934, for $79,131.00. The work proceeded smoothly throughout the ten months allowed for completion and was eventually finished, a few days within the contract period. The final amount of the contract was $78,961.27.
