21. Scholarships.-Boys from Subsidised Schools from all parts of the New Territories came on July 13th for an examination in Chinese and General Intelligence to compete for Scholarships tenable in Government Anglo-Chinese Schools, twenty-six were chosen and sent to different schools.
22. Attendance. The maximum enrolment in Subsidised schools was 4,712 including 571 girls (4,674 with 567 girls in 1934) and in Non-subsidised schools 1,589 including 275 girls (1,535 with 316 girls in 1934). The average attendance in Subsidised schools was 3,966 and in Non-subsidised schools 1,065. The night school for women at Cheung Chau had an enrolment of fifty.
23. Teachers from Taipo Normal Schools.-There were twenty-seven Taipo Normal graduates teaching in various villages in the New Territories. Besides these, another twelve, who for a time studied in this school, are also serving as teachers. It is worthy of note that schools, conducted by these young teachers, are generally superior to the other village schools in hygienic conditions, in discipline, and in spirit.
24. Every school has been visited at least once during the year.
