## PRIMARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION.

### GENERAL.

43. An account of the year's activities of the English (including British) schools, provided and private, will be found in the report by the Inspector of English Schools. Annexe I.

44. An account of the year's activities of the Vernacular Schools will be found in the report by the Inspectors of Vernacular Schools. Annexe II.

### PROVIDED SCHOOLS-BRITISH.

45. A descriptive list of these schools will be found included in Table III.

46. The Central British School is centrally situated in the Kowloon peninsula. The primary schools are situated one in the hill district and one on the lower level of the island, and one on the peninsula.

47. During the course of the year anticipations as to the progress of the new Central British School building have been fully realised; and it is confidently expective that the school will remove to its new quarters at the beginning of the next school year.

### PROVIDED SCHOOLS-ENGLISH.

48. A descriptive list of these schools will be found included in Table III.

No change of note has to be recorded for the year under review.

49. The Examination for promotion to Class 3 at Queen's College and King's College which is now open to all schools of the Colony was conducted as usual in 1935. 313 boys were examined and 203 passed or approximately 65%. The entries from non-Government schools increased to 22 but only 2 of these passed.

50. Three schools belong to this category; the Vernacular Middle School which has primary, secondary and normal divisions: the Vernacular Normal School for Women; and the Tai Po Vernacular Normal School, where rural school teachers are trained.
