29. Some improvement in the standard of work done was noticed. With improved means of transport pupils are not now shut off from the outside world.
30. Cheung Chau School.—Headmaster, Mr. Cheung King Pak, B.A. Maximum enrolment was 57. Average attendance was 52 (51 last year). The result of the year's work showed a general improvement over that of the previous year. Boys could express themselves successfully on paper in both Chinese and English after two or three years in School.
31. The Library has grown though the funds for it are very limited.
32. Health has been fairly good. Eye and ear diseases are still rather prevalent.
33. The Headmaster is now Scoutmaster of the Scouts Troop.
34. Basket-ball, chess and ping pong have been the most popular recreations.
35. Ellis Kadoorie School for Indians.—Headmaster, Mr. A. T. Hamilton. Maximum enrolment was 175. Average attendance was 166—an increase of one.
36. Urdu has improved as a consequence of the syllabus being modified, new text-books being introduced and more time being devoted to it.
37. The Kindergarten has done useful work.
38. The boys are keen on all games especially cricket.
39. Belilios Public School.—Headmistress, Mrs. Stark. Maximum enrolment was 444. Average attendance was 396—a decrease of sixty.
40. The school play-grounds have been re-surfaced and are now used for Net Ball and Deck Tennis. The playground in Bonham Road has also been levelled, a small pavilion has been erected and water laid on. The pupils are now very keen on games and any form of physical training. They were third last year in the Net Ball League.
