Two hundred and seventy-four fluids were examined for the meningococcus; slightly over 50% being positive either on direct examination or on culture. This total is considerably less than that of the previous year, but is still high enough to remind us of the ever-present possibility of another epidemic. In a normal year the number of fluids sent for examination averages 18, so that it is quite evident that the epidemic of 1932 still lingers on our threshold.
