# 8. MOTOR COACHES
57. The two Motor Coaches were in general use throughout the year, each was given a general overhaul and they performed their work most satisfactorily.
# COACHING STOCK
58. Four more of the older coaches were rebuilt; three 3rd class, Nos. 12, 14 and 24, were fitted with the new style of cross seating as requested by the Traffic Department, and No. 11 2nd class was also rebuilt.
59. Overhauls and repainting were carried out to seventeen other coaches. A conversion of the 1st and 2nd class motor trailer coach to a 1st class car was started during the year, but owing to pressure of work on more urgently required stock, it was not completed.
# WAGON STOCK
60. Altogether fifty goods wagons were repainted and overhauled during the year.
# MOTOR VEHICLES
61. All the touring motor cars in charge of this Department were given general overhauls during the year and some were repainted.
62. Five general overhauls were carried out to Sanitary Department vehicles and one steel body manufactured. One Police Department Van was given a general overhaul. Numbers of small jobs were done for all departments, keeping the Motor Department busy throughout the year.
63. Thirty-six point clamps were manufactured for the Chinese Section.
64. One motor trolley was overhauled and a variety of other work, such as making bolts and nuts for sleepers, point rodding, overhaul to weighbridge at Kowloon Station, overhauling signal-posts, etc., was performed.
65. The upkeep and repairs to the Electric Clock System at Kowloon Station, repairs and renewals to stretchers and first-aid boxes were undertaken.
# WORKSHOPS
66. All the machines were given an overhaul during the year. New vee-belt drive in substitution for gear drive was fitted to the large air compressor and proved a great success, reducing noise and friction considerably.
